Bronze is made by melting both copper and tin together they are mixed and make it less brittle the perfect combination to create bronze sculptures. The bronze material has been used in the creation of sculptures for centuries.


Sculpture

Terracotta and other ceramics wax a very common material for models for casting and receiving the impressions of cylinder seals and engraved gems and cast metals such as pewter and zinc spelter.

Materials used in sculpture. The most important of these are stone wood metal clay ivory and plaster. Any material that can be shaped in three dimensions can be used sculpturally. Some materials that never find their way into the actual finished piece of art still play a critical role.

Sculpture sculpture materials. More common and less expensive materials were used for sculpture for wider consumption including hardwoods such as oak box boxwood and lime linden. But a vast number of other materials have been used as part of sculptures in ethnographic and ancient works as much as modern ones.

However any durable material can be used. Some of the more exotic materials used are fabrics glass and even ice. Certain materials by virtue of their structural and aesthetic properties and their availability have proved especially suitable.

Classic methods of sculpting usually call for clay marble wood or bronze.
