What metal are magnets made from. This group includes iron cobalt nickel and some alloys of rare earth elements mainly neodymium and samarium. All magnets are made of a group of metals called the ferromagnetic metals. It also is resistant to rust and temperature changes though it is brittle.

There is a group of materials known as ferromagnetic materials. Sintering offers superior mechanical characteristics whereas casting delivers higher magnetic fields and allows for the design of intricate shapes. When alloyed with cobalt it produces a magnet that is very strong stronger even than alnico.

Each of these metals have the special property of being able to be magnetized. Every magnet has a north and a south pole. While most magnets are made from metals and metal alloys scientists have devised ways to create magnets from composite materials such as magnetic polymers.

Samarium is another metal often used in making magnets. Magnets are materials that produce magnetic fields which attract specific metals. These ferromagnetic materials can be made magnetic by exposing them to a magnetic field using electric current.

Alnico magnets are made by casting or sintering a combination of aluminium nickel and cobalt with iron and small amounts of other elements added to enhance the properties of the magnet.
